I agree. But someone else would have to do that. I'm running on 1024x768 still, and have never even touched widescreen. So I would be even more clueless there. But if someone is willing to add widescreen during betas, you have my blessing! :-bd

You need to add any new weapons to config\mp\mp_ranks or the game crashes when you drop the weapon near an NPC.

Don't add it to the pistol list, just to available items under one of the [rank_0], [rank_1], etc sections.

odd, its still not working...
I tried using mp_wpn_eagle_m2 in the rank_0 available_items section.
it looks somethin like this atm

You don't need the mp_ part.

It should be added to one of the rank sections, using exact same name as you have used for the new weapon.

Wow. I am a dooooooofus.
Seriously, I am glad I quit smoking, because I have apparently lost too many brain cells.
Ummmmm, anyways, I have been, um, modifying the wrong directory... IE, I've been modifying mp_ranks in my clean gamedata folder, and not my taint folder. :salute: thats me, slapping myself.

Allright, I gots 3ds up and running now. No problems there.
Although, that video you just watched and went "why the f* is that there..."
Well lemme explain. I had put those in as kind of a place holder for the what would be the fully modelled guns and such.
But then Jamie gracefully told me that was pointless, as after I had modeled and imported everything, I would have to redo most of those files anyways...
My reaction:
DOH!

Anyways, so I'm moving on to modeling. Going to try my hand on a low poly model of the bolt pistol, then move up to highpoly. Then we'll see where things go from there.

Random Question, has anyone figured out how to import/export animations between 3ds, SDK, and Xray?
Another Random Question, does anyone have a working link to the plugins needed to import/export models etc from 3ds Max 7 to SDK and Xray?

Umm, anyone know how to curve a cube? I need to know so I can make the bloody magazine....

Is there a way to create Negative Shapes, I.E. a cube the removes its shape from another? Does that make any sense at all to you folks out there?
I'm used to modeling in Bryce 3D, so excuse me ignorance...

In Cinema 4d, that is called a 'boolean' function and to curve a cube, you would use the 'bend' function. I don't know what the 3ds counterpart names are called. Sorry. I'm sure 3ds has the boolean function though.

All right, after hitting the little speed bumb called wisdom teeth, I am back. So here's the dealio:
I have been working on the mod, just not as much as I would have liked to, but now I will redouble my efforts to catch up with me schedule.
So I have finished the Chainsword Model, and the Bolt Pistol is on its last legs. So, at this point, I have no clue what to do. What do I have to do to animate, use, and texture/bumbmap my models?
Work has started on a Chaos Space Marine Model, by the way....
Oh, and where can I access the models already in stalker and modify them?

Hey, I'm definitely interested in helping in any way possible. I can't do much in the way of modelling or mapping, but I can help out with music and/or publicity, maybe some story writing (if you're planning to actually have a plotline).

Contact me if you want, though I won't be offended if you don't, seeing as how I don't have much to show...

Why thank you! And welcome to the STALKER MOD board. Do you know any animation or coding or aything like that? And I may just take you up on that offer for music....
And hey man, we all have to start somewhere, I am learning as I go with this, so don't beat yourself up or anything.
And yes, I do have a story already written out, its on another forum somewhere...
But its a secret... I do not want to spoil the fun. Although I will copy me stuff from the other forum here....

I have a rather basic knowledge of C++ and Java...though I'll be learning a lot more Java in the coming year, and I'm sure I could learn to do some.

I had started to do some minor work for a Crysis mod that eventually ended up dying. Heh.
