There is a way to get through that AND get your reward. Keep him alive to complete the tests then when he goes to stand around the corner, knife him where the Doc. can't see you. Worked for me.

The reason I say its possibly on your end is because sometimes that CTD is there, sometimes its not. Seems like if anything theres some kind of issue with the vanilla script as my mod doesn't touch that script at all. I'll take a look at the script.

Ok I got the CTD, deffinately looks like a quest reward bug, odd though as I havent touched the yantar scripts, which makes me think its possibly a vanilla 1.0004 issue, looking into a fix.

Bug fixed!

I found the problem with the CTD, I havent tested if a new game is needed but from what I can see this is deffinately the problem. Open info_l08yantar.xml, and do this;

Line before: <info_portion id="scientist_job">
Add entry: <info_portion id="yantar_ecolog_give_reward"> </ info_portion>
Error fixed!

ED - Fix works a charm, moving on to Radar..

I'm just glad the pre-release has been so bug-free :p I spent a lot of time ironing them out, but its always nice when things pan out in reality as they should do in theory :)

Hows people finding the rebalanced weapons? I won't go into full details so as not to spoil things but you can do things like attach a silencer and PSO-1 scope to the Groza, as well as fire 9x19mm rounds from it on top of the VSS and Abakan rounds. In reality the Groza can have different barrels fitted for those kinds of ammo, so instead of creating loads of different versions I just added the rounds to the Groza ltx file. Lastly, silencers ARE effective (just look at your noise meter ;) ) and attaching a silencer, just like in real life, effects the firepower of the weapon, so it may not always be a wise choice constantly leaving the silencer attached.

How to DOWNGRADE your steam version of stalker

Postby ket on 18 Dec 2008 04:34

I'll post it here as thers poor people who have the steam version of stalker that comes with patch 1.0005, and thus cant play TK as its designed for 1.0004. To DOWNGRADE your version of stalker follow these steps;

1. Go to Start>Run>type "regedit"
2. Go to Edit>Find...
3. Type "STALKER-SHOC"
4. Under "InstallVers" (right pane) simply change 1.000x ("x" denoting current patch installed) to 0.
5. Save changes and exit, now you can install any patch you want! :d

New element for the final version of TK. Traders are much less linear, forcing you to shop around for the best price for your 2nd hand wares. Theres also another surprise related to these files, but I'll let you all find that out for yourselves :p

Affinities: Think logically and you should be able to work out which trader will pay you more than another trader for your wares. For example; Barkeep will pay you better for foods, drink, and medical supplies.

If I were a trader I'd rip everyone off. I'd have something attractive to sell though... patches for broken quests :ymdevil:
No, I'm NOT referring to anything in Ket's mod :)

Small update just so people don't have to do too much in way of working things out for the traders. This is how they break down;

Sid; Random
Barkeep; Foods, Drinks, Med Supplies
Skinflint; Armours
Scientist; Med supplies, Artifacts, Mutant body parts
C. Petrenko; Ammo, Weapons

All traders pay a "fair" price for mutant body parts, the scientist moreso than others. The Scientist will also pay VERY handsomely for artifacts (1200RU for a Stone Blood!). Some may not like this new trader system as it requires a lot more "work", however there is a point in it. I do not want people to hit the bar and just like that wham be able to grab a LR300. This new system puts emphasis on collecting artifacts as the main source of income. Ammo is also a lot more OSP, traders sell some ammo for all weapons, but not a huge amount. For assault rifles the most you will get from any trader is 90 rounds (3 clips). This should put a lot more thought element into the game such as how you are going to tackle even the bandits at the start of the game, will you take the help? Will you try going stealth and hitting headshots? Or maybe you will wait until nightfall and see if the noctournal mutants will do your dirty work for you (or open up an alternative avenue such as killing some military).

Hopefully that explanation gives people a good idea of what to expect in the official TK release.

When you milk a trader from ammo or other stuff you can just save and reload and he will magically resupply during game load... so not a big challenge unless there's a penelty for reloading.

yup, also if you walk enough distance from the trader then come back they will re-supply you too.
Take Barkeep,if you walk back to the two cars on your way to the Garbage switch, then go back to Barkeep he will re-supply you.
or if you dont want to walk, just quick save and reload

Yes, the out-of-distance trick does not work on Sid, however... and I'm not sure about Sakharov.
