No More Fences minimod 1.0 (by dez0wave)

Postby dezodor on 27 Oct 2008 01:44

pretty easy modification that we used for testing purposes, but we got requests for a rel, so we decided to release it, as hm how to say, some sort of exploration mod.

complete readme:

||| No More Fences minimod for shadow of chernobyl 1.0 by dez0wave

||| version: 1.0
||| req: stalker shadow of chernobyl
||| patch compatiblity: for all shoc patches
||| this mod is dedicated to Tejas Slacker (twilight zone)

||| What is this?

This little modification removes the barbwire fences, some steel fences, and invisible (fake obj) walls around levels, so you can go anywhere you want on the actual map without restrictions. It is compatible with any mod, that does not alter the files in the mod. Maybe it would have been wiser to release it last year, when it was interesting to go thru the level boundaries somehow in shoc, maybe it can still make some fun for a while. Easy to merge with any type of mods out here.

||| installation:

1. unpack the gamedata to your stalker installation
2. edit fsgame.ltx as usual with other mods (game_data line true|true)
3. run the game, and enjoy

Note: no need to start new game for this to take effect

Brilliant idea Dezodor. Dont think the order of the liquidators will like it too much though, cause it will take the fun out of their tests :blackeye:

Dez, quick question. Will the AIs and NPCs be outside of those now vacant fences?

not all cases, it depends on the aimap. gsc cut the aimap on almost each level with that invisible wall (because they thought no one will go outside the fences and also optimisation, aimap nodes are counted as objects in level editor, and no reason to have millions of little objects on the other side of the fence, if noone will use it). we used this for testing, but still can make some fun.

Well this mod is cool. I've got to say it.

So, how would I make it so ais can leave the now unfenced areas?

The fences at the Bar level near the road by dog lair are still visible but you can walk right through them... is it intentional?

The fences near the dogs were a great dog trap, perhaps you could keep them there?

You can get through the gate without them opening it anyway, just push it open :thumbright:

True but you blow your chance of ever getting through the gate without pissing off duty. They'll always shoot at you. Apparently there's some trigger in the gate that causes the two or three guys at the gate to become hostile if you break through.

Another side-effect of this minimod is that the gratings used on e.g. some stairs and balconies also become "non-solid" and you fall through them. I think that the sniper spot in red forest may be one of them.

I was lucky only to have one guard become hostile. I just shot him, and everyone else just left me alone. :tongue:
