Not sure if this is the right place, if not move it anyway, so yeah, new (old) build of stalker, check it out contains Dead City, Generators, all Underground levels, etc etc.

I downloaded and unpacked xrcore build and its 2.99 gb. When i try to run it i get this error

I am using Vista 64bit and unpacked it normaly and in windows xp sp2 mode as well and no luck. I realy fancy ago at this but no nothing about the internals of this great game :pale:

I'm having no luck at all with the build. It keeps freezing on me just after I appear in Sid's bunker. :mozilla_frown:

I also really want to explore this build, but it seems not many on the GSC forums are interested in helping me out. On top of this, I can't get Clear Sky to work. I patched it up, put on a mod, and now it demands I install some TAGES drivers, and if I refuse, apparently I don't have administrator rights to run the programme. Which is a load of bull since as there is only ONE account on this computer, and everything comes with it - installing, uninstalling, etc. I suspect I shall just be done with Clear Sky before even playing it...always a problem with it, always.

But that aside, there's a moment where I hear some sound and appear in the bunker, but apart from that, nothing. It just...locks. I see my weapon and everything, it has been drawn. The crosshairs, the PDA icon. But it just locks, and I have to use the Task Manager to close the X-Ray engine...

Please, if anyone can help, it will be much appreciated. I have deleted the saved games in the saved games folder, that being what was necessary to solve one problem at least. But that's no use if something else is stopping me playing altogether...

I'm sorry Kaidonni I don't have nor do I intend buying/having CS, maybe someone else here could help you with your CS problem jamie, nanderson ,I'm looking at you here.


as to the xrCore build 1935, again, Ive downloaded it but I haven't played/installed it yet as I'm half way through testing a mod and I dont have the time to check the build out yet.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to solve these problems. My guess is that the engine has huge compatibility issues and should not be considered a playable game.
I think that this build is an extraordinary gift from GSC to the modding community and I believe that it's best to wait until some smart people figure out how to "upgrade" SoC with this content - at least we should expect a few mods that include some (or all) of the old level designs.

Still downloading the build, plus I may have more trouble than most, a guy on GSC using Vista64 like me is having trouble getting it running.

I'm more interested in digging through the files anyway!

Since this is a beta build of the early "Shadow Of Chernobyl"
game which was changed greatly, the real benefit of this is for
modders to get the maps of areas that were not included with
the game we bought. Future mods will include these new areas
with mutants, NPC's and hopefully Alife activity to expand SOC
to a larger game.
If you want to see it you'll have to go to the website posted above to find the required steps to get it going.

Not even a beta! A beta could be considered fully implemented but buggy.
This is a pre-alpha build that lacks a lot of functionality and is not playable by normal standards ;)

Most probably they also did this because they decided the old content was no longer of any use to them.
It would be cool if they'd choose to continue the STALKER series but I can't see any indications that they will.
