Seems like I failed my objective to complete this game before christmas day. So close yet so far. Don't think I can complete it in 3 chapters tonight :(

It feels very intriguing by every post I read. This will be one of the first games that I'll play when I start playing other games.

1) bought it
2) installed it
3) got seriously p*$$*d off that needed net to activate
4) rebooted system
5) put stalker on and went hunting military guys for head shot practice.....

2 weeks later after blood had stopped boiling at the fact these games companies noy only want our cash but also want our pc`s linked to theirs in some way. i dont do net gaming and my games machine was isolated from the net till deadspace came along.

so only got to play for few mins, got killed ! but the 3rd person view really threw me off. kept hitting keys set up in S.O.C. to change veiw which didnt work (obviously)
but it does look very good, have watched Event Horizon 3 times since getting it. not the same but from what have seen / heard about Deadspace it was the only film to watch.

and to top it all off my son got Spore for xmas, installed it at his grand folks then could not instal at home !
annoys me that certain games companies are extremely tight with things like that, imagine if you could only watch a dvd once then had to by it again ! SHOCKING

dke58...your rant is fully justified...we've all done it once or twice.
Limited installs, invasive DRM, on-line activation all suck. :-Q

Dead Space controls..

Postby ket on 03 Mar 2009 01:45

Ok, so after playing this on console a while back I decided I would get it for PC, looking forward to being able to aim accurately. So today I see it up tesco for £15, I figure what the heck.. So I install it, and what do I find? The PC controls SUCK! Seriously, what the fuck were EA thinking? Did they have a team of drunken monkeys decide on the PC controls? Their terrible, not to mention SLOW. When aiming it seriously feels like I'm trying to shoot the enemies with bricks its so slow and unresponsive. Forget about trying to remap controls as well - ain't happening. So to cut a very very very very long rant short (for now) has anyone figured out how to hack the controls and set things as you want? I've looked for config files but so far found none that relate to the controls.

It has been known for a long time that this game was MADE for the
controller. I was never going to buy it. I don't like controllers and don't want an xbox. I understand your frustration. I thought this was mentioned in the thread for that game.

Although I hate the controls for the PC version I didn't really have a problem with them. Seems like im one of the lonely people to actually not have a problem with them. Don't know why but with determination of trying to complete it before christmas day then after having what seems atm a huge break from Left 4 Dead I completed it. The game is quite easy I think. But then again I was on the option that made it easy. I am now giving impossible a go and gonna go complete it :-J

*** Threads Merged ***

I posted this earlier on in this thread.

Hey guys, I upped the mouse to full, and it still was not enough.

So I had a dig around on my mates PC, there are no config files in the game directory or user data, but if you enable the viewing of hidden files and navigate to :

C:\Documents and Settings\Yourusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Electronic Arts\Dead Space

You will find a settings file in basic text format, where you can manually change the mouse above a setting of 1.0

It does not completely resolve the sluggishness (mouse acceleration or smoothing I presume) but can help. Also I read that VSYNC can make a difference, try enabling/disabling it.

Unfortunately I don't think the keymaps were in that file.

OK, well just completed this game, 7 hours ish from start to finish, game is awesome! controls are odd, but i was using my 360 controller on the pc, so wasnt to bad, couldnt get hang of PC controls, so as i said, plugged my 360 control in, also the ending made me jump like a bitch, 2am, pitch black, headphones and quite loud at that.

Anyway, might do another playthrough on impossible now that i unlocked the military suit. :D

Jamie, I just rolled off my chair laughing. I can just see that happening.
Anyways, Has anyone else noticed the secret message at the end of the credits when you beat the game? Anyone figure it out?

Theres A secret message at the end of the credits?! :mozilla_surprised: I only knew of the one where each first letter of a mission/level spelt out a sentence unless this is the same thing.
