Well, it has been a while since that post ( on Sat Nov 15, 2008 5:19 pm ), so i sure hope you have found out by now, that all you need to play DooM3 on WinVista, is the 1.31 patch...
Overrated: HalfLife 2...for numerous reasons, many covered in the above posts. For me it was also the lack of detail in the maps and not enough clutter so to speak. In the latter regard FarCry 2 was excellent, i was immediately lost for words by the sheer amount of detail and the visual beauty and "wholesomeness" of the general scenery, you could definately believe you were in that african hellhole. But it was overrated as well. At least for singleplayer on PC, because it is not even close to being a decent FPS in this format. It´s clearly solely developed for consoles and multiplayer and has so many archaic features like the use of line trigger spawns exclusively. And it was broken. And Ubisoft has still not fixed it.
Underrated: Stalker! Among the uninitiated. It has a reputation of being a broken game one should steer clear off, which we all know is bulls**t... It´s up there alongside DooM3 as the best damn FPSs to date!
