I thought I'd better bring it up to the attention of Duke Nukem players that installation package may create performance problems on some computers. While I was checking the some of the newly released games, I noticed that Duke Nukem automatically installs a tiny bit of of software called "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer," and apparently does it so on all systems even without checking if the target system is actually an AMD based system or not. In short, the game set up auto-installs this AMD Dual-Core Optimizer even if your system is an Intel one, and whether it's dual core or quad core, or else... Well... I'm somewhat speechless in the ineptitude of those responsible who have set such an obligatory system, by missing the only sane option of integrating an instruction to check if the system does actually own the AMD Dual-Core processor!
As it seems, AMD Dual-Core Optimizer install itself as a low-level driver and tries to boot during the PC booting process, and runs subsequently, trying to perform the tasks it was designed for. However, this of course may cause in some PCs noticeable delays in booting time, up to temporary or fatal hanging, freezing of the system, even while not playing the game.
This is correct at the time of this post, but I hope soon it will be an update through STEAM to put the house in order.
ADVICE: For all those who don't have a Dual-Core AMD systems -- Uninstall the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer through Control Panel>Uninstall aProgram facility. Fortunately, it uninstalls easily without leaving traces.
