somethings broken :s

Maybe someone knows what the deal is here as its driving me fusking insane :cussing: For some reason stalker has decided not to update on the first mission your given. More precisely, the task doesn't update when you meet "wolfs people", even when you get the flash drive off nimble its a no-go as it doesn't trigger nimble has given you the flash drive. At first I thought it was something to do with the all.spawn so I replaced it with an old verion, that didn't fix it. Then I thought it might be where I changed escape_tasks and escape_dialog, that wasn't it. The only other file I changed was se_respawn, but that can't be it can it? Any ideas?

Just in order to eliminate the possiblity completely, are you sure you haven't touched the xml files, gameplay\dialogs_escape.xml?
It seems that possibly the mission complete info is not going.
Also, text\stable_dialogs_escape.xml can bork the situation if id numbers are not matching. Either theer is a omission/problem with the script file or xml. If you have a safe copy gamedata you can compare them.

OK... I take it it repeats the same symptom after each restart of the game. Lets think about it for a minute.

I also understand that you've replaced the all.spawn, escape_dilaog and escape_tasks with the original ones, also the se-respawn? Still the same problem?

if they are the only files, and that you'replaced them back to check and eliminate the cause, one would expect that it should recover, have you tried rebooting the PC and starting a new game? I guess you've done it too, of course.

Yeah I've done all of that, its most strange  I'm checking over se_respawn right now to double check everything, but after that I'll be clueless as to whats going on.

I know you say you replaced the scripts you altered, but the only time I ever had anything like this, I had messed up a fairly simple respawn script in escape_tasks... it had some strange consequences all over the game!!

One of the other ones was that Wolf would not radio Petruha for minutes after I accepted the mission, it was like the script was looping and causing severe event lag.

as you'd expect so, too, I'd guess that the info about the badits quest done is not being sent. Theremay have been a corruption somewhere, even though you did not touch a certain line, it's known to happen.
Long work, but comparing the scripts and config folders with winmerge migh be helpful, also would be painful. :)
I have untouched vanilla 1.0004 extracted folders, if you don't have original pure ones, I can email it to you.
If everything still seems alright, then maybe engin egot corrupted at one particular point. Last option maybe, but a reinstall may be on thehorizon if nothing else helps.

Problem fixed, nothing seemed to be wrong with the scripts, but replacing them all at the same time instead of one by one seems to of fixed things. Very odd!

Glad that it got corrected, yeah, you never know, these kind of strange stings do happen time to time. Just consider it as an exercise for stress management. :)
