It looks like you have made a mistake in xml files, problems with strings, weapon id is missing at the least as it seems. Check the weapons that you've worked on it and on the xml files.

Well I haven't messed with the weapon files but I have a feeling that the original 1.0005 xrGame.dll would fix it,you see epji's sniper pack which has actual zoom for some of the sniper rifles uses a slightly modified version of it, but I don't want to loose that part, but then again at least for the start of the game I need the original dll, which I unfortunatly lost, perhaps you could send me one, I'd be grateful

You mean the vanilla xrGame.dll? OK I'll send you one in a mo.
Now I see... Epji's zooms mod would not work on NEWSA if it's what you are trying to do. NEWSA+SIMBION has "Zoom" scopes on weapons such as my FN2000NW SPX but in order to have that function a specially addressed dll needs to be used, such as the original zoom dll from the Zenobian mod, but I've found that it creates som estability issues -at least so still at the time of this note- and until I've managed (if I ever can) to address this issue, I've long ago removed the dll since (inc) from version 1.0.

While I congratulate all the technical works put into the zoom scope factor, I still find that this ability would anyhow make the game a bit too easy as well.

Postby DARK TEMPLAR on 10 Apr 2009 12:02

Didn't want to start a new thread.

So I have a new 21.5'' lcd screen with 1920X1080res and the damn thing stretches some of the stuff.

Yep, unfortunately though in game widescreen works perfectly, many menus, and menu images are stretched.... my scopes are stetched as well.

Patch 1.0006 is the best for widescreen, but has some multiplayer issues, I understand most patch 1.0005 mods work with 1.0006.

Full widescreen support would require lots of texture tweaks and/or ui config file tweaks, and would in many cases need to be done differently on a particular mod. I have not even converted my game to proper widescreen yet, because I honestly don't have the heart or interest to start modding my version of SHOC all over again.

Sorry DT, you may just have to live with it, but the game looks good in Widescreen though =D>

Yes it does look magnificent.

On a side note, I started a new game and the military are all over gordon, yet I have done nothing to affect stuff like that. real bleedy bloody difficult

Text and image files relations

Postby DARK TEMPLAR on 25 May 2011 13:36

as to not clog up the place with minimal content threads, posted here. (As always, may be moved to somewhere more relevant if needed)
What line in what file refers to the area in ui_iconstotal.dds where the actor image is taken? One has looked around but alas it has evaded One.

Also in which file were the artefact descriptions? After extracting the DB files the only one that could be found was string_table_artefacts but that sodding thing was in Russian and only held info on about 9 artefacts.

Maybe I'm a bit sleepy now, but I couldn't quite get the question, can you please clarify it? Also, for the source of artifacts question, I'll check vanilla base, I don't use relevant vanilla files at the moment, and I don't want to give an answer off my head.

Well, the ui_iconstotal holds the character images, also the actors (should have mentioned before) is there a line in some file that refers to the x y co-ordinates from which the image is taken?

Very bad weather in London today, Gales, storming rain, took ages to get home, lol.

A1)
And, yup, OK, so you're talking about the camera angles, in simple terms. If there had been a single constant angle for each/more images, then resulting "viewing those" things would have been rather strange. Therefore, the game continuously calculates the projected views of any given objects/NPCs/creatures, etc, within a simulated 3D environment through the viewpoint of the actor (when playing 1st person of course) which has some preset values as to his vision properties.

Say, a bloodsucker that you look at from a rooftop from a 70 degree angle, would not be the same "70 degree angle looking bloodsucker" when you face it on the ground; and its view, which is relevant to you, would be different again when you crouch down. This is an obvious matter, of course.

In order to change the viewing angle in this respect in the game, you can try exercising with the values presented in the system.ltx file, starting with the variables found under [actor_firsteye_cam] , [actor_free_cam] , [actor_look_cam] , [actor_look_cam_psp] , [mounted_weapon_cam] .... and the rest that you know when you look at them... too long a list to write here. But BEWARE, it's a very tricky job, so it's more than likely to create a rather interesting visual comedy. :D

(There are also ways to bind keys to view the game from a 3rd person view, but I guess that's not what you're after. )

A2)
Artefacts
config\string_table_artefacts is Russian alright, which is unrecognized by windows, hence the strange lettering.

As you play the game in English, you need to look into config\text\string_table_enc_zone.

(the equivalent file in config\text folder is also Russian, not for you)

Q1 Eh you misunderstood. I meant the image of yourself you see in the pda or in the dialog window.

Q2 Mh odd, must've not payed enough attention when going through the file, will look again. Thanks.
