Discovered hidden option in user.ltx

Postby ket on 02 Jun 2011 17:41

As title says, I was playing around with the settings in user.ltx for SoC and found a setting option no guide mentions. For r__detail_density you will probably notice even after setting maximum in-game settings this setting sets itself to 0.2, and as many have complained about the grass density in-game is still rather.. well crap. This is where user.ltx editing comes in, change that 0.2 to 0.1. That change may not sound like a lot but fire up Stalker and BAM! You suddenly have the lush grass details we all know and love from the Stalker BETAs! :d

If you type "help" in the console, you should get all the settings available.

I think you do, but doing stuff through the console is a pain, you have to redo them on every launch of stalker, something you don't need to do when editing the user.ltx file directly :) I think I've finally finished making stalker look as good as it can, so all I have to do is finish all.spawn and then the TK mod will be mostly what I think the devs wanted stalker to be. If I had a team at my disposal, I'd also seamlessly add the cut levels and new quests, but sadly I don't :(

AFAIK console changes will be saved to user.ltx as long as your game didnt crash and exited in the normal way.

I could be wrong though.

Waddap, you all would be interested in this then.

Link to the patcher.
Google translated readme:
================================================== ============

Patcher to increase the radius of the drawing herbs in STALKER
v.0.4
================================================== ============

--- Using the patcher ----

Install Active Perl (http://www.activestate.com/activeperl/downloads). Even if you have
already have perl recommend the latest version.
Compose a batch file like this:

xrPatch.pl-file xrRender_R2.dll-game soc-patch 6-line 97

What do the keys:
-File - path to render the library
-Game - version of the game. soc - PM, cs - CHN, cop - RFP.
-Patch - patch number
-Line - drawing area of grass. Here I will describe in more detail.
In Stalker grass is drawn by default 49x49 square cells with the player at the center. However, the
in this box are imposed some processing engine, so that in fact it is almost a circle
with a radius of about 49.
The parameter line must specify a new range of "circle."
Warning, do not fit any number. It must:
a) be odd
b) to give 1 as the remainder of division by 4.
Example: 53,57,89,97,125 well, something. Think for yourself, these numbers dofiga.
The rest is at your own risk.
The maximum possible value of - 125. The theoretical limit - 253, but for values
more than 125 flies. Working on it.

For convenience, all keys can be reduced to a few letters. Example:

xrPatch.pl-f xrRender_R2.dll-g soc-p 6-l 97

The list of supported renderers:

PM-6 r1 patch
PM-6 patch r2
CP-2 patch r2

Version History:

v.0.4 - added patch r2 from the 2nd CP
v.0.3 - Fixed crash when playing with r1 patch on the 6m PM.
v.0.2 - added patch r1 from the 6th PM
v.0.1 - initial release (r2 patch on the 6th PM)

Kolmogor for pointing out the direction :)
RedPython for the excellent location of the test
_Prizrak_ For a discussion of

2nd CP and PM-6 refer to STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl patches 1.004 and 1.006, while 2nd cp is the latest Call of Pripyat Patch (1.6.02 I think?) Any mods on 1.005 should work on 1.006.
