Goddamn Power supplys

Postby jamie1992 on 11 Sep 2009 14:17

Ok so, i finaly got a new pc, not what i wanted exactly, but its a pc none the less. Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ, 1.5GB of DDR2, and i got a X1950 sat doing nothing, reason for that is, i can't get a damn PSU to work with it my old one, couldn't run the motherboard, and my new one from the pc i took the CPU and Ram from had a 300W that does the mainboard, but isn't able to power the GPU, i need one with 24 pins for the main board, but also 6 for the PCI-E extension, most of them are like £50 if not more, for a 400W, as you know my pc's are always built from "Scrap", or basicaly, pcs that were either being binned, dumped, or destroyed, and i "Rescue" them, anyway, i need a PSU, so anyone know where to get a 400W give or take for what i need, for a VERY low budget'd person. :P

Love you all, plese let me know if ya know of any. :D

I would recommend www.scan.co.uk It's prices are much better than many places. I do my shopping there. You can find some deals on eBay, but you need to keep looking until you've found the piece at the price you want.
Yes, I remember Ket was selling some stuff, including PSU, I guess. Check his threads and give him a call.

If you just want a PSU that looks good on paper (which means in THEORY it should be a good unit) This will be about as good as it gets for £29. The unit is 600w with 20A (Amps) on its 12v rail, which will be plenty to power your system and X1950. The unit should also have sufficient muscle to let you OC the CPU so you can get as much performance out of that dog as possible :p
