Looking for a budget but high end video-card... I remember grump sent me a link, but I can't find it :(
And is there a Quad-Core or at least a hardcore fast cpu for the 775 socket?

Theres endless options. Probably the cheapest and best Quad 775 CPU is the Q8400, its drawbacks are a low-ish multiplier (8x), and not as much cache as higher end Quad CPUs, the latter your not going to really notice though unless you do a lot of archiving, CAD work, or something similar. As far as OC potential goes, I got my Q8400 up to 3.85GHz, so not exactly slow. If your looking into new memory, I suggest 4GB Geil Black Dragon PC8500 For DDR2 memory its about as good as you can buy these days. It still has 5-5-5-15 timings unlike most other PC2-8500 kits which now are either 5-6-6 or 7-7-7 (which is crap). The memory also has a 3 year warrenty, 8 layer PCB instead of 6 layers, and at stock speeds (1066MHz) should run absolutely fine with about 2v going to it. As for graphics, MSI have recently gone insane and I have seen their HD4870 1GB selling for £45 NEW.

Alrighty... Another adventure in computer hardware coming up... I am looking for 3 fan filters, preferably clear so I can show off all me fancy LEDs... One 60mm, one 120mm, and one 220mm... I have found a couple of the first two... but the 220 doesn't seem to exist? Does anyone know where I can find one or have suggestions?

Make your own. A cut up pair of tights make a great fan filter!

Hey, remember when I was asking around about a quad core LGA775? Are there any 775 quads that AREN'T intel? I can only find ones from intel in the 2.5-3ghz range, and they aren't that much of an upgrade from my 3.2ghz dual core... Not to mention rediculously expensive. Any suggestions?

The LGA775 socket is an Intel chipset for Intel's only. There are separate sockets for Intel or AMD on the motherboards. My AMD quad uses a 790x chipset on the
mobo. Intel & AMD don't play nice together and the chips are very different.
The LGA775 chipset is made by Intel.
The 790x chipset is made by AMD.

damnit. I don't want to spoon out 400$ for a decent quad, when its hardly an upgrade...

Oh, and did my eyes decieve me when I saw 6 core CPUs on NewEgg?

6 core Intell-$1000, 6core AMD- $300 and no software around that can use them. Except video editing. Hell the software hasn't caught up to Quads yet. That's why I run my I7 as strictly 4 core.

Or, take a chance on the "right" quad and unlock two more cores ;)

Well, finally replaced my aging hard-drives with 2 WD Caviar Blacks, and kept my old WD Green Power... Now I got 3 500gb HDDs... Terabyte and a half ready to ROCK! WOOOOO!

Also, replaced my FUBAR DVD burner... stopped reading DVDs after my second move in Pennsylvania... Cracked it open tonight to see if it could be fixed... Turns out that the DVD lens was not only knocked out of place, but it was cracked as well. SO, now I got me a cheap-o SONY Optariac or something like that. Runs twice as fast as my old drive, and twice as quiet!

So now that I got the basic shit out of the way (Mobo, PSU, HDDs, and DVD-RW drive), I can move on and focus on the real shit... So, I will be investing in some RAM this summer, A new ATI Card by the end of this summer, and hopefully the prices on these quads (especially LGA 775, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... =LGA%20775) will go down by this winter.

Anyways, gotta finish formatting my last HDD, so I'll talk to you all later! :)

Plenty of software has caught up to use more than 2 cores. Games for one, CAD work, video editing, photo editing, even windows is designed to utilise as many cores as is detected. I don't see any point in owning anything more than a quad core CPU though, not right now. It'll take a few years before the software catches up to 6 and 8 cores.
