Windows Vista starter

Would it really be a bad thing to just get the starter pack if I basically just play games and use E-Mail?

I do agree with that however, and correct me if im wrong, vista enables you to use directx10 and sata2.

Help with a laptop

Ok so i was reading up more about vista starter and i will answer my own question with a "hell no" it supports a maximum amount of ram of 1gig. Maximum harderive of 250gigs. Only supports directx9, the list goes on. So no thanks. Ill pay the extra for home basic. Read more too about installing sata drivers and will try it tonight. If i get that to work then vista can wait :-)

Stay with XP.

XP > Vista (All versions).

I used to have dual boot, so i could use either Vista Ultimate or XP and XP wins hands down, DX10 is not worth the other shit vista gives you, seriously go with XP.

Vintar...good info on the Vista Starter (what a waste that is).
If you have a serial# available, I would still go with XP SP3 for
now if it doesn't cost anything and wait for W7 as it may eventually be what we want. Later we will WANT to upgrade
because DX11 is already in the works and more games will be
scaling features for your PC depending if you have dx9, dx10 or dx11. Some of these guys can tell you that Vista is now good if
you can tweak it a little and also if you have a fast quadcore.
There are SOME games that run better on Vista now. Naturally,
our older well-liked games use XP best.
