But what Bethesda do know is that the community will fix this with mods just like on oblivion :)

Desperate for some graphical improvements!!

Also, I am keen on making time pass slower, I never get the sense of any gradual transition of time, its just suddenly night, which is basically grey, no real darkness. I suppose coming from Stalker I wished for a better looking world. The visuals are terrible in places, though you can see the potential. I look up at these huge crumbling buildings, see the glare of the sun and think, "now where are the sun shadows?".

The gameplay makes up for it though, I am still not tired of the kills in VATS, just excellent.

Dave - How about a list of the mods you are using for us less in the know? I would not want to be one of those guys posting on the forum a "Best mods" thread!!! I also find the sites pretty rubbish, nothing like Stalkerfiles where you get to see the mod, read user feedback, etc, etc.

You have to go to Fallout 3 Nexus.com which may only be in the US but I don't think so...seems you couldn't get there awhile back.
Mods used:
Slower leveling...a must.
MTUI...older looking user interface-less console-looking.
InterfaceMod-Revelation...goes good with the above.
Mighty Mouse...more weight carrying with strength.
No Auto-Aim
No Karma Sound
Slower Degradation...weapons & armor.
Accurate Assault Rifles
Ultimate Fallout 3 Music Mod...awesome for immersion.
Newer Laser Pistol
Newer Laser Rifle
Enhanced Night Sky...accurate and beautiful.
FNFal...cool assault rifle with new ammo 7.62.
Moria-more Caps...gives her 50% more money.
Dragon-Breath Shotgun...a real ass-kicker.
Smith & Wesson Model 29 pistol.
Desert Eagle...uses .50 caliber Action Express ammo.
Jukebox 3000...nice textures.
Freeplay Mod...don't know how it works yet.
Nuka-Cola Machine...nice textures.
Gauss Rifle...nice scope and is better than the Sniper Rifle.
Boss Monster Addon...can't wait to have this random encounter.
Fallout Shelter...a great second home underground.
Personal Vault...a great home in the History Museum.
Fatmeister...allows you to shoot a spread of 16 mininukes at once!
50's Pinups...a babe with boobs on your Pipboy (I like boobs).
High Resolution Megaton...98MB's of new textures for Megaton.
AK47...better assault rifle.
Plus a couple of mods to keep some women from being so damn ugly.
How does that sound so far???

Thanks Audio, now you have me downloading mods LOL......have you found the level uncapper? Goes to level 30? I've been searching all day.

Edit: I found it but it no longer is suggested to use due to its limitations. No biggie.

Yep, thanks Dave, I had spent a while going through Falloutnexus, and picked up a number of the mods you mentioned.

I am already running the slower levelling mod you had shown me, and I am only just at level 6 after many hours of play, I reckon the no cap limit would not be needed anymore.

I also found a smaller crosshair, timescale fix, and some fixes for perks that did affect all the correct types of weapon.

Once you get farther into the game you should get...
Kors Vault-Home...it's a blast...literally! It has too many cheat
weapons in it now but it will be fun later. You can set mines or
turrets or choose any weapon...then spawn enemies into your
traps or blast em away. It's quite a armory. I also have a home
to buy in Rivet City for 5000caps...haven't done that yet. One
mod lets you take Dukov's Place and steal his babes. The Oblivion Modders are back at work big-time.

The sheer number of mods already out make it difficult to choose.

I have stayed away from anything that effects balance, until I understand the game, so no new weapons or perks, etc. Just fixes to stupid things like the way unarmed attacks use more action points than attacks with knuckle dusters....

The thing I did like about Oblivion was the way in which new dungeons could just be slotted into the environment. Find an existing rockface, add a door, and hey presto, stick your dungeon underneath, It made it so easy to add new content to the game.

I am currently away from my gaming PC, and wish I could be playing F3 right now. Nothing like showing your nieces and nephews a few nifty headshots!!! Just kidding folks.....

PS. I'll be taking a look at the G.E.C.K when I get home.

Egg...this game is the same way. One mod just puts a manhole
cover on the front part of the "Super-Duper Mart" parking lot.
You go down the manhole and have a large Fallout Shelter
underground.

Yep, I have had a quick look at the GECK, after doing some minor tweaking, I will be having a look at creating a cave/dungeon or vault, I have a couple of ideas...

I'm actually currently trying to make BF2 look nicer (me and my brothers play it co-op), I have to say the particle editor in BF2 is hardly as easy as Stalker's.... never thought I would be congratulating any of the Stalker mod tools!!!

Back on topic, the GECK seems very good, I remember working on the Oblivion SDK and it is very easy to pick up.

I recently reloaded a savegame and went for the blowing up Megaton path, you get a much better pad if your a git it seems!!! I am playing F3 at the moment doing what I would naturally do, so basically being a goody two shoes. I will definately try the dark side on my second playthrough though.

Oh, and that Nuke explosion is awesome.

Yep, running on Ultra too, but I cannot help jumping out of game to fix the odd thing, and I have scouted out a couple of locations for a building or vault mod.

Here is my first F3 reskin, I hated the green combat armour!!

Thanks buddy :thumbright:

I have to say, I effing love this game, it just gets better and better..... GTA IV has not even been dusted off since the (extended) install.

I'll try not to spoil anything, but when you find it, go into the Dunwich building. It has a good story inside and lots of action, its also pretty damn scary (though I was playing it at night with headphones on). Take lots of ammo..... and guns..... and meds..... and a few mines.

I've only just got through the first level of this building, and I have found the door to go deeper, but I am seriously considering backing out and stocking up first. I got ambushed by 5 pretty fast mofo's and just ran back the way I came dropping Bottlecap mines (wish there was a rearview mirror!!). I ended up hiding in a store-room, with my last mine in the hallway outside as a kind of alarm, and I could hear the survivors breathing and running around looking for me. I used my little panic room to sort my inventory and heal up before going back out.

Anyway, one piece of advice is get this game, second piece of advice is don't rush through the story and beat it in ten hours, thats not the point. Explore.

I will admit I am already running about 10 (mini) mods and lots of my own tweaks... mostly those that make the game harder, with less loot, trader supplies, meds, ammo, etc. You really have to scavenge. When I am happy with the balance I might just release it for anyone on here (private use only as yet again I don't have all credits).

As an example, in my first playthrough before the crashes started, I never once had to eat radiated food, or drink radiated water to survive. My radiation meds were purely for bartering with and never needed. Tonight I had to use one of my four radiation meds when I got radiation poisoning, only four collected in about a weeks play!!

Very wise advices, I'll be certainly needing them when I start playing, hopefully very soon. Also, it looks like I'll certainly need those mods as well, it seems they do bring a reality check to the game.

I also play the games exploring the things along my way, not in the group who seek record time setting; of course, provided that the game is attracts the player.
