Sorry for my OT - Q, BUT the other day i was trying to help a friend update the drivers on his ( older? ) "ati radeon 9600/ x1050" -graphics card, but had to give up at some point around the "download this driver robot and pay $29.95 to proceed" - stage. Can´t be right i said...
He´s certainly no computer-wiz ( nor am i ) and i´ve never had an ATI-card myself.
( On his own initiative he later installed an incompatible driver that totally crashed his system into a neverending restart-loop and he had to format the partition and reinstall XP and all the base drivers!
)
Aren´t there supposed to be a ATI-controlpanel like with NVIDIA cards and a no-nonsense driver download page... like NVIDIAs?
The experience certainly didn´t make me wish that i had an ATI card, but i imagine that we´re just pretty ignorant and that there MUST be an easy way to find and install the newest drivers?!
