ATi hardware has had tessellation units built into the GPU for some time, last reports I read about a week ago still state for nvidia GPUs to do tessellation it will have to be done through CUDA (software), which is rubbish, and naturally much slower than hardware. Even more worrysome is how nvidia have a whole site for the G300 and do nothing but talk up how amasing it is, how programmable it is, how versatile it is, etc, etc, etc... The last time nvidia done that was with the FX series... and I'm sure at least some of us remember how god awful the FX series was.
