Microsoft OFFICE 2010 (Beta) Full released FREE Now

Hey Guys,

Microsoft has released its much anticipated new office suit "Microsoft Office 2010" (as fully working Beta) Now. I have downloaded and installed already , upgrading my Office Suit 2007. Downloading and installation is very easy. I have seen some noticeable performance improvements over the previous MS Suit 2007 even at this early stage. In order to download the suit, all you have to do is to sign in with your (any) hotmail/msn/live email accounts on the download page. You are given a serial key, which is usable on one PC only. For other PCs, if you have others, you need to do the same process again.

DOWNLOAD OFFICE 2010 Beta:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en ... fault.aspx

Microsoft Office 2010 will remain usable until 31-October-2010. Still a long time to enjoy it.

Does it have the same kind of toolbar as 2k7? MS changing the keyboard shortcuts and "hiding" (IMHO) functionality under what to me are strange sections and tabs really turned me off on 2k7. I've been an MS Office user since it first came out, and when I tried to test out of a required 2k7 Office course at my votech school I failed it because nothing was where my fingers knew it to be.

The user interface is SO counter-intuitive to me. I want to produce documents, not do desktop publishing - which is the direction I think 2k7 went.

Yes the new Microsoft Office 2010 uses the Ribbon on all of the software within the Office Suit. This is direction that they are going. They say that this new ribbons on 2010 edition are more customizable, though I haven't much time to tinker around all the visual/skin controls yet. Outlook looks quite impressive, they have improved that archival looking old style, it's more modern now. It looks more like Photoshop-like than an ordinary mail client, which is not actually.

I had been using 2002 and 2003 before the 2007 came, and I remember that I had had difficulties with getting used to the new Ribbon interface on 2007, but after giving it some time and allowing myself some time, I've got used to it fine, though I'd still prefer the complete customizable interface of 2003, but new Office suits since MS Office 2007 offers many more improvements that outweighs such a desire. That is of course for those of us who who want and need to produce more developed pieces, but those users who just need to write simple text documents can well do with much cheaper Works or in fact with Wordpad as well.
That's true that MS Office is going, and actually has already gone down to the DeskTop publishing route and for those who may need that kind of software, it's not bad at all. You can produce any documents and charts and publish them with Office without needing those Adobe Suits, and if you have those as well, then the Office offers a much simpler support along (at the first stages of) that highly professional line.

It's possible to check the functionality of Office 2010 on Microsoft site, then proceed with the download:

*sigh*

In over 30 years of professional staffing, my experience is that a typical business document is 80% simple text, 10% tables, and 10% all else. Wordpad and worse, notepad, aren't up to the task for anything other than the text. I'm talking about memos, monographs, technical writing, proposals and system documentation - but not brochures, presentations, annual reports, and the like, where glossy eye-candy is a must.

Of course it's MS's decision and I must defend their right to decide, but what a waste. Less than 5% of Word is useful for over 90% of business documents. The rest of Word serves only as a roadblock to productive day-to-day business document creation. c'est la vie, because it is what it is.

Alternatively, download and use the COMPLETELY FREE FOREVER Open Office v3.2. Its fully compatible with MS Office documents and a much more versatile program to use than MS Office :thumbright:

That's surely a very viable option.

I haven't used it much yet but OF certainly is easy to use, the UI is also very intuitive, not broken like the UI is in MS Office 07. I assume MS haven't changed the UI in their new iteration?

UI is a bit different on 2010 in comparison to 2007, but only a bit, otherwise mainly UI functions as it is on 2007. It looks a bit better as well, from the visual point of view. All I can say at this stage is that it looks prettier  , well, they also claim that it should be more stable, which is yet to be seen in long term practice.

While I may not like the new MS Office, it's an industry standard that I must know in any case.

But, what I must give MS kudos for is their aggressive pricing. The Home and Student Edition has the necessary core feature required in the workplace, and I was able to buy that edition, with 3 licenses, for USD 99 last November. And have seen it for even less from time to time.

Thats a pity. If MS had unbroke Office10s UI I would of given it a look. Oh well, Open Office it is.
