You finished Clear Sky--- Now what do you think about it?

Postby Verton23 on 13 Sep 2008 08:10

Before someone opens it, I'd better start this thread.

Has anyone finished the game yet? If so, how did you find it? What is your view now after you played the whole game and started thinking and remembering it? How do you evaluate Clear Sky?
Good parts and not so good parts and things needs to be improved?
Any views?

I've yet to buy it.
I've heard nothing but bad things about, christ, when the Developers say they're sorry for releasing it to early and sack the guy responsible no way am I going to touch it, I'll give it a miss for 6-12 months.
so many excellent SoC mods out/coming out, more than enough to keep me busy.

Well CS is awesome, the ending however is a bit well GHEY to put it blunt.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Read below if you are 100% Sure you wanna know what happens

Ok Basicaly, during the game you are looking for fang and along the way you find strelok who is blazing towards the centre of the zone, you mainly come into contact during the Red Forest level you chase him down the road and so forth and then he gets some goons to block you so you have to kill them and so on and so forth, anyway once you are at NPP you have to shoot him and so on mainly a guass and headshots are a good trick.

Once thats done everything shakes and it goes into a cutscene and shows strelok laying agaisnt the wall faintly twiching with some tv's flickering and theres loads of others around him then at the end of the cutscene it kinda pans to his forearm showing the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Tattoo and then fades out and thats it.

Thanks jamie1992 good review at least now I know what I will get as the story line goes. I also agree with busetibi I can wait for another patch. But it was very good to hear it from the mouth of the person who finished it. Thanks :D

Its cool.

Also to add to my above.

Faction Wars

Very awesome and very engaging in all and i noticed everything gets alot more active later on into the game.

Short Story:

Was helping some CS members attack a small camp we killed them all and the renegades sent a counter attack (no suprise there), However the thing i didnt expect was for them to send 5 squads one after the other!!!!!

Also another was at garbage i was at the flea market (near the checkpoint where you go to bar in SOC, its where the broken up building is.

Anyway we got attacked by one squad of bandits and took them out no problem, but then another came, and then another, and another and on and on this went i must have used well over 300-400 rounds from my Toz and all rounds i shot was Slug Rounds as my Toz cant use Shot\Buck as i redid the barrel in an upgrade.

Anyway yes i also noticed that duty send squads from Agro to the Garbage and took over some bandit checkpoints which is sweet.

Oh and before i forget check this:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EofQhGMGnaE

This was a random occurence i was sat at camp chatting to peeps and so on and the counter beeped up rapidly and decided to film as it might be intresting litttle did i know it would turn into what it did but all in all the faction wars and so on are AWESOME!

Will add more stuff later on. :D

Nice info Jamie but you seem to be much faster than the rest of us.
Also, we have to wait till the 15th in the US.

Well i have completed Clear Sky already so its no big sweat to me i got it on the 5th and on master the game is just way to easy, now im just messing about in it seeing what i can do, atm i just got hooked on SOC playing OL 2.2 With Arsenal Merge makes the mod half decent i suppose but nothing can measure up to NEWSA & Fatraps Run & Gun.

I felt the same way - though my real gripe with Clear Sky is that GSC seemed to turn away from the sometimes lonely/desperate atmosphere of SoC and instead they focused on a far more action oriented game with CS. I guess that's the price to be paid for the faction wars but my personal opinion is that there are at least twice as many humans in CS than there really should be. Maybe if 99% of them weren't simply fodder for the faction war machine it could be overlooked but that's not the case. I'd been very much looking forward to Limansk as well but was sorely let down by it's utterly linear design.

I guess that what I was really hoping for was not more but less. The game also isn't really helped by the fact that I paid full price for what is effectively an expansion.

Yeesh! I ought not to think about it any longer as it quickly reminds me of how bad the game actually is when compared with its predecessor. Horrah for modding! :D

CS ending is fockin retarded. Yeah, go kill strelok (naturally) you succeed. CS is supposed to be a PREQUEL, kill strelok, the first game never happens. Who was the fokin moron at GSC who came up with that ending? Damn I'd like to put his nuts in a vice for that, idiot.

Clear sky is a prequel to shadow of chernobyl correct right?
And in clear sky you kill strelok.. And in shadow of chernobyl you are strelok..
How does this work out?

CS being a prequel is supposed to take you through events that happened prior to SoC, yet at the end of CS strelok is killed.. which means SoC can't happen!

Too much Vodka, one would guess. Managers must've got a very good consignment :partyman:

(no fault of developers, though. creating storyline is something different :) )

I still vote never to buy a GSC game again unless its REAL cheap. They promised all kinds of things after the disasterpiece that was SoC, and its only thanks to the modders SoC has become something worth playing. Enter CS. All the same mistakes were made and some brand new ones, CS seems to be about as stable as charles manson on crack, bad GSC.

Wait a minute guys...you are suppose to STOP Strelok...not kill him.
This story ties in well with SOC. Although it doesn't help the linear
end of the game. You may well give him some damage but you can't
kill him. If you had a clear mind and you started with Clear Sky and played SOC after that, and had no info about the games before this,
it would be the best gaming experience you would ever have. Too
bad they got it backwards. :-?

I doubt that.. "do damage to strelok and stop him" *player headshots strelok*, yup, he should be pretty dead, right there..

Would of made a lot more sence if you didn't stop strelok, kind of a "bad" ending. If you read all the PDA notes in SoC, listen to the cutscenes etc, you will get a heavy emphasis on the fact strelok WAS NOT stopped.

Well you are a loyal supporter Dave!!

I do admit that it is probably the fact that I modded SHOC so heavily that makes CS a dissapointment. That and the fact that this rig, which is pretty damn good, is choppy at 1024x768 when maxed. As a game in its own right, it probably is not as bad as all that.... however I am enjoying Crysis, and (finally) Fallout 3 too much to even try it again!! I will play it someday as I got it cheap, and don't like wasting money. i also felt that some aspects of it strayed too far from what i loved about SHOC, if I ever got to the point of modding it, I would firstly thin out the populations a lot!!

Its probably also (prepare for blasphemy) that I am a bit tired of Stalker in general. There I said it... :toimonster:

Fallout 3 is awesome by the way :salute:

Check my other post, edited ;) I dont blame you for getting bored of stalker, it has so much that needs redoing to make it anything like the game that was promised anybody can get fed up, even me. I just persist because I'm bloody determined and I felt THAT cheated by GSC after playing SoC.

Understood...but you guys are modders...from a players point of view there ain't much better out there. Even Clear Sky has many mods (even though their a pain in the arse to do).
The ending of Clear Sky - you are far away from Strelok if you shoot
him so the game only lets you injure him. Obviously, you don't stop
him and he ends up in the death trucks after a major blowout.

Its still lame. True fans of stalker like me have followed the game since it was announced way back around 2002, so based on the knowledge I have of the game, both SoC and CS are massive letdowns. When I first played SoC, by the time I completed it, I had never felt so cheated by a game - ever. Nothing the developers promised was in SoC, no big world with no loading screens, no large maps, no blowouts, no sleeping ability, no vehicles, the list is almost endless. The only purpose buying CS would have for me is to rip it apart for future TK mods.
