Another TDY with FIZ

Postby fiznerpin1962 on 21 Jan 2009 12:06

After circling the globe, plying my mercenary trade where needed - mostly in Africa (Farcry 2)- I find myself back home, in the zone.
Back for only a few hours, I encountered an assault on Cordon by zombies & pseudodogs. The young ones did well, so I moved on.

At any rate, I sense an impending blowout. My artefacts' powers faded soon after leaving the zone, my body armor is threadbare. - I must find shelter.
.... more later.

AM Journal entry 1/23/2009
came across something new today. found it on a dead soldier @ the railroad bridge.... wonder what it's for? Maybe Sid or barkeep can shed some light on it.

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _escap.jpg

- At some point in the night, as I walked along, I noticed how beautiful the moon looked (@ max setting, of course) - a Kodak moment for sure...

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _escap.jpg

- Later in the day, Sid came over the radio with a mission. "get over to that damn military base & grab the briefcase that the commander is sitting on like an egg!" Upon infil, I encountered heavy enemy presence. Fortunately my NW groza had just had the action cleaned/lubed. Figured I'd line 'em up nice for the dogs, boars, & fleshes...

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _agrop.jpg

- Later in the exfil back to the bar, The sky went "funny" & the noise was deafening, and I got a radio message from a duty outpost while this was going on - something about boars & suppressing fire - upon arrival @ the coordinates I was attacked by zombies and boars! At the same time! This guy looked really pissed off before I whacked him. I swear he was mumbling something about somebody stealing his damn Clearasil...

-Gettin' busy with it... more in the evening....

PM Journal entry 1/23/2009

- entered dark valley @ about 1600 hours. I looked across the valley & was inspired by another "Kodak moment" The pine trees, the fog, the electro-anomalies twinkling out of the fog - very settling. I should known it was a facade.....

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _darkv.jpg

- walked into an electro-anomaly, that is when everything "went south". Was going after a character named Borov, who was rumored to be running a command center out of a half finished prison that was abandoned in '86. First he was on my PDA where he was supposed to be, then he would vanish - no trace. I would retrace my steps... re-establish contact, then poof! Gone! While all this was going on - I encountered myself for God's sake! A Duty member, captured by bandits? Me? Surely evidence of time "moving on" - or maybe parallel universe phenomenon... thank goodness everything eventually "slipped back in place/time"!

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _darkv.jpg

- Just leaving the area under cover of darkness & I was picked up on a gunships radar. Some well placed ordinance, problem solved.

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _darkv.jpg

- got a feeling I will be seeing a lot more "whirlybirds......

Great pictures and narration again, keep it caming. :thumbright:

PS; so you, too, have met with the guy from Duty who has also carries the same name with you? Maybe he has heard of Marked One's reputaion and assumed the same name :mozilla_wink: (or maybe just born like that  )
Anyway, I see it as a nice surprise for those who save him from bandits.

I may change his name back to a different one, to another funny one or a normal one like Boris or something in this v3.0 at the last moment, still undecided; well, there's a certain quirkiness in it, after all.

PM journal entry 1/26/2009:

- Journal entries have been sporadic @ best (busy, busy, busy)... will try to condense & recap.

- Sent on a mission to go to Rostok & meet a scientist @ coordinates for a temporary "chopper drop". On my way there I had to neutralize a sniper squad of approx. 6 combatants, and a small squad set up @ a choke point - all there to prevent interference with a bandit warlord's (wolfhound) plan to aquire research data on anomaly metamorphasis.
The plan almost worked. While I was busy with the "wet work", Wolfhound had succeeded in knocking out the helicopter that was carrying the ecologist team, and had sent another squad of mercs to eliminate the ecologists and capture my contact. I also had to deal with my fourth enemy gunship...

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _rosto.jpg

Earlier in the day I had an encounter with yet another enemy gunship (#3) while on a side mission by the newbie camp....

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _escap.jpg

- ended up going to another lab & turning off a psi emitter giving the locals problems. Things are starting to come together for me. Was helping my contact from Rostok take some measurements & was "nudged" by a blowout. Had some sort of flashback. I seem to know this Ghost I am also looking for, and somebody named Fang. Maybe they know Strelok - who seems to be my actual objective...

AM Journal entry 1/27/2009:

- went to meet doc @ (Strelok? Me?) hiding place in Agroprom catacombs. It seems that Strelok is me! I don't understand.... why would I get memory wiped and sent to kill myself?? What is with the booby trapped weapons stockpile at (my?!)hideout??

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... u_agr_.jpg

- I need to seriously figure out just what the hell is going on!Maybe it will come to me in my dreams.... I must continue on.

Very catchy notes, and right on target chopper-kill photos :thumbright: Particularly the one WT captures the halo of the explosion rather nicely.

(I know that a lot of photos accumulated from many of the guys, I haven't lost them. Still in my folder; after the release of v3.0, I'll have time to update the Players Corner, not forgotten  )

PM update 1/27/2009
- on a mission to aquire a couple experimental weapons (good cash to finance trip to the north), I found the rogue Duty squad. Wasn't able to save a scouting party in time, but I went to help wipe the bastards out later!
- A lot of things went on before I even had a chance to neutralize the rogue squad - for instance the three choppers the military sent over the freedom base as I was trying to get in to see The Freedom leader..

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _milit.jpg
hit the engine....
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _milit.jpg
Dumbass came back... big mistake!
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _milit.jpg

(hopefully I didn't take this guy out with the chin bubble of that darn gunship - or if I did, I hope nobody noticed!)
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _milit.jpg

- and now, a Kodak moment. I got thrown up on the roof by a pseudo-dog during horror time @ freedom base! I challenge anybody to give me a similar view!

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr49 ... _milit.jpg

- at the end of the horror time, a blowout came tailgating in. Thought I would try my luck/artifacts in it. BAD idea! Need to get my funds together for a nano-suit...

Nice ones :thumbright: Chopper debris fell on the Freedom guy and killed him, ha? Lol :D
Blowout is pretty heavy in AW, I can't make it to the end of it even with a Nano suit if I'm caught out in the open and can't reach somewhere sheltered in time. :D
