Lyoko774's "stories" from the Zone

Postby Lyoko774 on 01 Apr 2009 03:10

First off, hey guys! First post here. This place looks a bit friendlier than the GSC forums, and overall smarter too..heh.
Anyway, I'm using a bunch of mods...I forget most of the smaller ones, heh.. ^^; But I'm using FreeplayStart v0.99x2.2, Argus' Photorealistic Textures, SWO v3, Smart Marauder mod, random treasure, STALKER Sound Remake, AAO, SoundEFX 0.5b...And a bunch of smaller things from other mods, old STALKER builds, Clear Sky, etc.

I just got into the Zone. Started off as a Loner.. (on Stalker difficulty ^^;)

Image
Was about to leave to do a few tasks...
Image
Those buttmunches from the Military outpost decided to attack the Newbie Camp!
Image
They killed 2 by the time I realized what was going on..
Image
Image
Image
Manage to kill a few through the fence, and looted the bodies, nabbing a couple AKs..
Image
Started to go all Rambo on the bastards.
Image
Image
After the fight, started to look through the remains, and drop all the bodies into a basement.
Image
Image
Poor Nimble. D:
My inventory before I sold everything to Sid..
Image
Wanted to see if he could repair an Abakan I picked up..Too expensive. Ugh.
Image
(Gonna link the rest after this, post is becoming HUEG)
Sold some stuff, bought some stuff..

Walked out of Sid's bunker with a nice not-so-shiny Beretta. Woo! (And a TOZ, not pictured.)

http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone20.jpg
Left the Newbie camp for the first time..
I decided to try to sneak up on the bandits at the factory.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone24.jpg
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone25.jpg
Didn't go so well.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone26.jpg
Was an interesting battle.. I found that some of the bandits were taken out in the building in the middle...wasn't by my hands. I walked in..next thing I know:
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone27.jpg
HOLY CRAP!
He was taken out with some buckshot though.
On the way, at the railway embankment, I found that the bandits were in control of that outpost. Hm. Interesting. Took them out with ease.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone28.jpg
Made a few trips back to the trader after that, then made my way to the Garbage.
Found a few dead bodies on the way, have yet to figure out why...
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone29.jpg
Found one with a Desert Eagle..Took me a second to find out it was Freeman. Oh shit. >.>
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone30.jpg
After that I saw a loner chase and shoot down a lone bandit, who apparently was unarmed.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone31.jpg
To the Garbage! Woo.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone36.jpg
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/zone37.jpg
I suppose I'll do more tomorrow..I guess this isn't that interesting though, is it? Just me posting screenshots of my ventures through the STALKER levels. I'll try to be a little more leniant on the screenshots next time, and focus more on making some kind of "story" or journal..Pah, I'm a horrible writer though. <.<

Thanks, but, uh, I don't think I'll be able to update it for a while since I'll be in San Francisco for a week or so..

Welcome to the forum as well.
Going to San Francisco, ha? One of the most spectacular cities in the world. I hope your time there will be worth to remember (with nice memories, of course)

I already am in San Fran. Pretty awesome. :P Dad brought his Nikon D300 so we've been walking/driving/cablecar-ing around taking pics. We got some pretty cool pictures.

Lyoko...welcome...and nice post. That story was important
because you listed all of your mods and showed us what that
mod compilation is capable of. Very useful...and I want to try
that sometime. I like GSC but Nightwatch's forum is the most
well operated and "laid back" I've ever been associated with.

Thank you. :)
Yeah, I agree, it's pretty awesome what you can get when you correctly merge a bunch of mods. :P
And I also agree about the forum..This one isn't as populated, but that's a pretty good thing in my opinion..Less a-holes, less idiots, less of those kinds of people to deal with.

Anyway, I'm gonna be going back to Pennsylvania (Home!) on Wednesday morning, so I'll continue this..thing when I get back, although it's technically gonna be a 9 hour flight..In reality it's 6 hours, but I'll be in a different time zone and yeah.

Sorry I kinda forgot about this..
That install of STALKER I was using..um..Asploded. That's what I get for not backing up whenever I try to merge something.. Damn it.
Anyway, now I'm using that STALKER Complete 2009 mod w/ SWO v3, DEXX's blowouts, Arena Extension Mod, a bunch of other things that improve the look/style.
It's kinda nice to play "vanilla" style (storyline and balancing) with the added extras.
http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/ss_lyoko774_04-27-09_04-24-35_(l03_agroprom).jpg <-- Kinda reminiscent of the alpha, heh.

http://jman94.crystalmoon.com/ss_lyoko774_04-29-09_01-47-32_(l01_escape).jpg <-- Dynamic saturation and contrast adjustments..from a version of Sky4CE I found on one of the Russian STALKER forums, that was meant for build 3120. I 'stole' the things that modify the saturation and contrast from the 3120 version 'n stuck them in Skygraphics 2.0 RC4.1 or whatever it was. Looks pretty damn good, IMO.

It's not perfect, some work still to be done, it is only in beta stage.

However, it is interesting, I have just started a quick trial as the military, but you can start as any faction with missions and a trader, etc. I'm thinking of moving all of my stuff ontop of this, especially the Ecologist faction.

In its current state it is perfect for adding on texture, weapon packs, etc. It's nice fighting with the military against the loners, brings a new feel to the game. However, as the military anyway, everyone is against you (even Duty?).

Thanks alot eggchen! I've always wanted a mod like this. Just never realised there was one out. I was hoping that once I got Taint finished, the final would have something like this. Its pretty neat; I wish I knew how they did it! Lots of files for me to go through tonight then...

Anyways, Lyoko, hope you enjoyed San Francisco! Welcome back to good ol` PA. Just don't come up here to the North East. We seem to have rampant pyros up here setting random bushfires! Luckily, I have an alibi.... *cough*
Heh, just joking around. Oh and nice pics man!

Heh, thanks! And cool, you're in PA! I don't know many people from this state , let alone my area..Online, I mean.
Although I am very..eh..Antisocial.
Oh, I just remembered..
Any of you guys ever watched the show "Life After People" on History?
It's awesome. They did a part on Pripyat, as an example of where it has already happened...virtually untouched for 26 years, abandoned buildings, the carnival, etc..

A couple of beauty shots I've taken in SoC for build 3120 (Thank you Russians.)

This thread is now about my modding adventures XD
Wee, I'm learning how to make particles! Thanks to EggChen for some help on how to get settings from multiple particle.xr files.
My first failed experiment with particles. (Vortex fails.)

I like it :mozilla_wink:

The particle editor is weird, soemthings just don't translate well in game, or it takes much trial and error. If your vortex is like dust, try increasing the alpha, if you try and draw alpha below about 0.1 the game completely fails and you get nothing. it is an engine limitation I am afraid.

I'll open a particle thread in Modding Techniques, so you or anyone can ask for help there. I can't guarantee I'll always know the answer but I'll try.

Another test.
