G'day nightwatch

Of course you just triggered my fading memory (old age start to show) :-ss
Thanks for the info.
Now I'm still playing v3 at the moment is there a patch for it? have you released the patch you were
working on? I'm not trying to pressure you at all just that I would hate to miss anything concerning
NEWSA addons, and yes as always I play Extreme Mode the only way to play IMO. B-)

Now lets go see our greedy friend Syd. :mozilla_wink:

It's nothing to do with one's memory Wombat_70, as there are so many things in the game and the mod (mod changes things quite a lot) so keeping every single one of the events and instances are more than a challenge actually. :D Yes the Xtreme mode is the ultimate one and gives the full burnt-out taste of the Zone.
I haven't still released the patch yet, as you may read in my rather lengthy post (a couple of posts back) I have been devising a scheme and choosing one of the a few available solutions for the "delayed spawning of initial Monolith Assault in snipers alley in Pripyat" which has been experienced on some PCs. I've verified that the matter (which seems to tax the CPUs too much on some PCs and in return causes Xray to drop/miss the spawning for a lengthy period -like a very long breathing time) is nothing to do with Pripyat and lies between BS Antennas complex exit and Pripyat. The patch will be available very soon hopefully (could be earlier if I hadn't needed to struggle with the Tax Office and and local Council -a lot of paperwork to fill, lol) and it will bring some Cordon-Pripyat jump, offering a way of early freeplay with pick-and choose missions, in addition to various technical improvements. More on these news on the previous pots as well.

Balious, see you in the Zone then after the Xmas :ymdevil:
Well, NEWSA FN2000NW-SPX is the enhanced modified version of FN2000 which fires .45 cal uranium-tipped explosive magnum rounds and and also fires U2-tipped high precision missiles. Ammo is expensive and rare, and somewhat a "must" against the toughened-armor APCs and seriously aggressive and stubborn attack helicopters with increased resistance to ground-fire. You can see it in action on the Utube video, on the fist two clips (appears later as well) against the APC and in the following grand battle against helicopter squadron attack against the Freedom Base.

Ket, you seem right, we are missing pictures for many pages on this thread, be my guest, get some pictures of memorable events from the game and post them.

I remenber it now! Its one of the guns I used the most when I played and had ammo for it.

Great! :thumbright: In fact, I've just got an idea, maybe we should've done it before, that I can link some Utube player videos to the Players Corner. Even, I can embed some of the best videos on the Corner, provided that Utube still offers/allows this service. After the release of the patch, some older videos may be processed like that, if I'm given their links on Utube.

I'll be happy to help with making videos after I'm done with SmP :d
Which'll probably be within two weeks or so...

After playing around with NEWSA, though, I've been dying to get some AMK on...

I'll post screenshots when I'm done with the TK mod :D Call me obsessed, but the TK mod has eaten up the last one and a half years of my life... The good news is that I'm finally almost done making it perfect.

Is there anyway to make some of the NPC's "Immortal" like col. Petrenko, the guy from the arena, the guy from the dogs paddock etc.
they all seem to die very easy when Bar is invaded by the military or the zombies.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes there is Wombat_70. I used to know how to make certain NPCs immortal with a guide and trial and error. But I can't remenber since.

It has something to do with the armour they wear and what immunities is set to it. I remenber a new one being made being immortal to everything and a few certain suits were changed to use that. Quite hard though as it can also make enemies immortal.
I hope someone else can give a more better answer at actually doing it.

Been playin for a few days; under additional options I turn everything to the max and YAHOO - the zone is fun and challenging again.
This is, handsdown, the best mod yet. Hopefully some of those Pripiyat and CS maps will be ported and populated.

I keep seeing refrences to the EXTREME mode. Where do enable this?

Hi troppo32, glad that you've liked the mod. Extreme mode can be chosen during the installation of the mode. The installer will ask you to choose one of the available modes, then you need to tick the box for the Extreme mode. Once you've started the game, and if you haven't chosen the Extreme mode during the installation, you can't change the mode of the game during the game. You need to re-install the mod choosing the option you want. (This is true for all other modes of the mod).

You might've probably already installed the Extreme mode; to see what mode that you're playing, just look at the bottom of the main menu screen as seen on your monitor. It should tell the mode there.

Wombat_70 , I might strengthen the Colonel character a bit more with the new patch. None of the offered solutions are complete on those links, or quite practical to achieve to what's wanted, and, as Balious also points, such changes (depending on the changes) may end up altering the other NPC strength standings. Fatrap had a spefic idea on his mind he wanted to make that sniper very strong (not immortal, though) ; but dealing with other characters' strenght positions may prove counterproductive, as it may change the game to a sort of "scripted" game like some FPSs, where some never dies, while others always die, etc. The game here acts organically to the events, characters engage with enemy and depending on the nature of their engagements they may survive or die, (or get wounded) in the long run, which I believe brings to the game the element of "unpredictability" and urges the player to get involve with the events and characters more, as sometimes either it becomes necessary to save a character, or just one doesn't want that character to die.
Saving often helps having more a creative game full of alternatives, and if things go unexpectedly (that's the beauty of it  ) then the player may need to decide if he should reload and try to support those characters, or let them rot there.
But if the Colonel is seen to have been dying a lot, then a small adjustment may be done.; but needs to be evaluated and tested well to see the adjustment is neither over nor below the "just good" level.

Thanks nightwatch for your good advice witch I will follow to the letter anyhow all these modifications to save
the colonel are behind my capability, I shall patiently awaiting for the release of your patch.

Balious Thanks again for your trouble finding those web pages but after reading them and as nightwatch said above, it's all too complicated and risky for the game stability.

I actually just have a simple question.

Is it me, or is this mod highly unstable? The further I go into the zone the more I run into crashes at level changes. I can't even get into the Agroprom underground. And I generally have to save right before every level change so when it does crash, I can reload and then it will work. :/

Other than that, I'm lovin' the mod. I've spent a total of 3 hours in the Cordon alone before even steppin' into the Garbage.

STALKER is renowned with its instability, engine problem. CS continued the same trend. This mod is very very ( I know I used it twice, that reflects) heavy and tax all the resources, which makes very much system dependent STALKER even more sensitive. So you need to have a very good system, I recommend more RAM (and faster RAM) 500W+ PSU, mid-to-high end CPU and all the components need to be of good quality, as you may already know it, not all components perform smoothly when put together.
[I run Windows 7 64 bit, 8 Gig RAM (1066 GHz Dominators) 800W PSU, Intel Quad running 3.0GHz, NVIDIA EVGA GTX 260 SSC (equivalent to 290), with solid stability and no-stutter, water-fluid graphics.]

As a general approach, I may recommend that you lower the game specs, check your heat well, and see if you'll have improvements. PSU is very crucial. Also STALKER (not a mod issue) is very heat causing game on the components. I play Fallout 3 with temps never over 50c (I have Lian-li cooling sytems), still, when playing STALKER temps goes about 20 C higher.

On other note, thanks for the nice words on the mod. I makes all the work worthwhile.

That's the thing.

I never, not once, ever, crashed with the vanilla games. The amount of problems players had was astounding and I never encountered anything that other gamers seem to have. The only time I ever started crashing was after I started installing mods.

When I try to move from one level to another, I almost always CTD. But when I load a previous save and go through the level changer again, it works just fine.

Expression : fatal error
Function : CScriptEngine::lua_error
File : E:\stalker\patch_1_0004\xr_3da\xrGame\script_engine.cpp
Line : 73
Description : <no expression>
Arguments : LUA error: ...shadow of chernobyl\gamedata\scripts\xr_logic.script:406: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)

I'm getting that tryin' to get into the Agroprom underground. :/

I've tried loading and going through again, but with no success. :/
