Music Jukebox

There's asystem called Eurosat in Europe, which also trnsmits to the UK and can be picked here free (mostly , at the moment). I know some other countries around the world, using large dishes, catch signals. There must be someone there who can point to the right hardware to pick those signals, but the US is not under the footprint, so they should know how to catch those signals.

This is from SES-ASTRA site (satellite providers to Eurosat and others)

About SES ASTRA www.ses-astra.com

"SES ASTRA is the leading Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite system in Europe. The satellite fleet currently comprises 14 ASTRA and two SIRIUS satellites. The combined satellite system delivers services to more than 117 million DTH and cable households and transmits a total of 2,433 analogue and digital television and radio channels. SES ASTRA also provides satellite-based multimedia, internet and telecommunication services to enterprises, governments and their agencies. With more than 55 High Definition (HD) channels on its main orbital positions, ASTRA and SIRIUS represent the most important HDTV platform for Europe's leading broadcasters. The prime orbital positions for ASTRA and SIRIUS are 19.2° East, 28.2° East, 23.5° East, 5° East and 31.5° East.
SES ASTRA is an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG). SES owns three market-leading satellite operators, SES ASTRA in Europe, SES AMERICOM in North America, and SES NEW SKIES which provides global coverage and connectivity. The company owns 90 percent of SES SIRIUS in Europe, as well as strategic participations in Ciel in Canada and Quetzsat in Mexico. SES provides outstanding satellite communications solutions via a fleet of 39 satellites in 26 orbital positions around the globe. Additional information on SES is available at

There might be some shops selling the decoder boxes there; if not, then you may consider ordering one Britain or Germany, or any other European shop.

I don't know if I've posted this or not, as it has been a long time...
But I thought those of you interested in science and music might find this f-ing cool:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rasp88nbsRw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xCKCxkhwB4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lr8tVC-Qx0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEeWtBAE5LY

For those of you who already know what this is, ENJOY! For anyone interested, I will explain the basics...
Essentially, it is an arc of electricity travelling between two conductors. Now, the electricity always operates at the same frequency. This pretty much means that the sound the arc is making is essentially constant. (its that loud buzzing you hear when you stick your finger in a light socket. No, you don't want to stick your finger in a light socket just to hear the sound. Its.... unpleasant... trust me on this...) So what happens, is a modulator creates the ILLUSION (is that the right word?) of the arc making the music by turning the current on and off at the frequency of the data passing through it. Neat huh?

EDIT: as a side note, can someone translate this video and the text for me?

Nice guitar. Nice chick too. Thats an XL guitar by the way, granted she is tiny, but she looks even smaller with that guitar. I think it has 27 frets instead 21 1/2... Although I can't really telll for sure due to the low video quality, but judging by the size of the neck compared to the base, its an XL. Not 100% sure though. She might just be THAT tiny.

Anyways, there are lots of awesome female guitarists out there! Nancy Wilson, anyone?

The guy in the Star Wars outfit is especially funny...
And Nancy Wilson, in my book, is still a babe.

Funny video. :D
And a very cool music piece (the first link) which quickly reminded me of Metallica and Slayer; and particularly the Abbys from Slayer.
