Sorry to hear that things haven't gone at their best, least to say. You have an unenviable conundrum in regard to choosing the companies, the right company; difficult question. $140 for 600 miles feels unjust for the effort one puts in into the work. After all, these are big vehicles, a certain danger is undeniable, and driving even in nice conditions in a comfortable car is a tiresome activity.
Well, Tina's student was a real dumb-ass , no question about it. Dealing with those type of drivers who can't pay attention, or care, to anything on the road other than strip-tease joints and burger bars is surely is a mission to test one's limits of tolerance. One should not carry any gun or something before sitting next to those blockheads. Poor Tina, she must have really high tolerance levels.
I have watched a couple of trucking documentaries in recent years, and what you say seem to be fitting their general visualization of trucking industry,which is a very difficult, almost volatile industry.
