My brother said that he found it while looking for a Deus Ex book, assuming he found it on the seven seas. I think it might be part of a special edition of the game

Ok. Well, passed my exams and got my permit. Drove for the first time yesterday. Wow was that different. I've driven since 1975 and manual trans is no stranger but THOSE beasts are different. The double clutching will take some practice. And as far as resting periods, there are very strict Federal laws here dictating just how many hours you can work and drive in a 24 hour period. But come Monday, we are out of the "yard" and out on the streets! Look out people ;)

Congratulations! :salute:
It was rather quick, you've got the license almost in no time, must be hell of a driver. B-)
Yeah, that double clutch and stick-driving are really tough, I guess driving a tank must be easier than driving those beasts. Btw, I think Volvo, Eaton and few others offer some trucks with (semi)-auto transmissions, those I guess should be more comfortable to drive. But, they aren't used a lot by the companies, are they?
Wishing you safe and fun driving times.

Hmm, an Old English one. Rather scholarly .

One of my classmates and I walked out to the Volvo dealership during lunch one day. The new trucks are $145K but I didn't ask about the transmission. My interest lies in how much "living space" is available. I like a lot of room and living in a truck is my worry at this point :( But, that is exactly what I will be doing for at least a year B-) Tina said last night it is going to be like having an affair with me :))

Well you can fit bunk bed system into some of the trucks, a holding cell beneath the main bed which may or may not also be a small fridge and at least one holding cell accessible from the outside. All I can dig up from my memories currently.

As far as I know, some trucks have even microwave ovens in the living compartments. Do you have a picture of your truck?

I'm still in school :)) I'll hopefully be driving for Swift. That's who I put an application in with on Monday. If not, lots of choices out there.

It will be a "Rocky Road"! :mozilla_wink:
I wish the best of Luck to rockingmtranch. I used to drive for a business back in the 70's myself.

While double-clutching is what's taught, it's easier and smoother to cowboy-shift when shifting up a gear. You'll still need to clutch when shifting down.

You let off the throttle and pull the shifter into neutral at the same time, putting gentle pressure on the next gear up's gate. As the engine's rpm falls, there will come a time when the rpm of the engine and that of the gearbox match, allowing the next gear to be engaged without clash. Apply throttle again and you're off, never once having touched the clutch. It's much faster than clutching and smoother, as well. Takes a bit of practice but like riding a bike once the skill is known you never forget it.

I also drove, cross-country, in the 70's. Having driven both manual and "auto" transmissions in a semi-tractor, I definitely prefer manual. Manual gives much more control especially in low-traction conditions.

Now you must also compile a proper collection of music
Perhaps you could start with some classics

Well crap. Sitting in Columbus, OH waiting for a new trainer. Shit just didn't work out with the self proclaimed asshole and racist after 4 days and 2000 miles. Could be here for days. Gotta put in 240 hours btw before I get my own truck.
