Why does steam torture me :(

Dawn of War Soulstorm and Mount & Blade for £10.50 in total only because Mount & Blade is 75% off in the weekend deals. And also I get the Dawn of War 2 beta with Soulstorm. Seeing as I can not buy off the internet (its a tough life indeed) as my parents dont trust me with money on it. Unless one of my friends buys me them (which of course i pay him back) then once again steam would of been successful again of teasing me with games that are cheap.

Anyone else been tortured by the internet with something they really want but can't get it? (book, game, film whatever)

Looks good, I am already keeping an eye on this one, especially as I never played the 1st game... however that was so obviously console play in the video, I get seasick watching FPS controlled by Joypad. Lets just hope the second game is PC gameplay (I read that the first certainly was).

This is getting a common problem on many forums which are receiving a high traffic and sudden pulse of connections, attacks cannot be ruled out on invididual instances. Situation is being dealt by our hosting company and others as I've heard (we're not the only one having these temporary errors) and it has significantly improved since last last week.

Although they are not the only reasons, as it is said so, Google bots (mainly) and other bots are also having a good part in this. I've highly restricted the other bots, but not the Google to such extent as Google is good actually to put the site in agood spot and so what we write here can be seen by many more over the internet.

However, sometimes 3-5 Google bots come at the same time , a few times in a day, literally syphon the site to their database, a bit too much. I believe in the coming days the error problem will be further minimized; they are working on it, it's widely known on the internet.

When you see a "general error" page, you can reload the page, it'll reload properly that time. And when you write something long you can highlight it and copied with the right click before submitting it, in case it doesn't go through; in that case you can reload the page and paste it again.

As I said, many of these error prompts are being caused by Google bots. They are said to be using new highly powerful copying software which (when a few of the bots come together) momentarily strangle the sites. Web hosting companies (including ours, too) are dealing with the problem.

(you can see them when you check the "who's online" link on this site, they are coming as "guests" now, because I have demoted Google bots from "registered member" status to a more restricted status of "guests")

not too worried about it...google bots...that reminds me that google is ONLY your friend when you need a search. This super-monopoly
is not keeping up very well...they own Utube and during the evening
you have to wait forever to see a video. Also, their turning off sound
of videos if anyone complains or claims authorship. They have more records of our activity than ANY government. I think I'll hate them
for awhile and give Microsoft a short vacation. :-?

I'm afraid it's a little worse for FatRap and even Grump may have been affected by this ice storm.

Wow, too bad! People can freeze to death at that temp. Yet the picture looks so innocently picturesque! No matter they say appearances can be deceptive!

It does look pretty but none of that is snow...it's ALL ice. We lost a
10% or 20% visual difference in trees and the whole area will not quite be the same. I'm afraid FatRap will HAVE to pull out the "chainsaw"! I hope he is careful. :-ss

Hes been hit by lightning, shot, stabbed, survived a head on into a pickup on his bike, and walked away from like another 17 crashes he shouldnt have, im sure a bit of ice wont bother him to much. :P

Ice, ha? That's too bad, really bad. This kind of weather must be not be quite usual in your part of the US, and that would make things even worse for the folks over there. :pale: Best time to drink a lot of hot drinks to keep warm. ~o)

Yep, a nice warm cup of cocoa and maybe watch a nice film.... "The Day After Tomorrow" anyone?

Seriously, we are bracing for a pretty cold snap in the UK, temps down to 2 degrees, and wind chill taking it below 0. Should be fun getting to work tomorrow.
