Wow, a 1998 article, Vintar. What must one do to turn off the natural aversion to playing when lightning is around? I am reminded of a phrase from Niven and Pournelle's "Oath of Fealty".

Lyoko774, I've used STEAM. I have it on a PC in offline mode solely for playing HL2 -- except that I've not touched that game after my initial play-throughs (original and modded to use the ZPE weapon throughout the game). I also had it, disabled, on my Internet PC that bought the farm recently.

I don't want to reconnect to STEAM, as it will force an update, and the new versions require a keep-alive ping to keep working, as I understand it. (AKA DRM.)

Where was I? Ah. If you are referring to that scene, I feel like it was the equivalent of a video-bite or video-sample -- it was pretty much the same scene, replete with the exterior elevators going up and down, reaching miles into the core of the planet. How can you not remember that once you've seen it?

You won't need to get lucky; it will just happen. Trust me on this: You know a lot of things I don't. I know a few things, but not as much as people think. I do know that I'm not that smart, but I'm ... thoughtful.* And I have the "series of tubes" cyber-extension at my disposal, just like any forum poster.

I didn't need it for the movie, though. 'Twas I that was lucky.

And while it is a truism that advertising is a pretty girl holding or using something someone wants to sell, I wonder just how effective that is.

Though the second incident could bring out some smile (no one was injured) but the first one which caused the dead of the whole team is very tragic. very rare incident, but very tragic.

My feeling was much of the same actually, also seemed to be very much -too much- exploratory game, endless walks, few involvements which in my book says boring. I hope that the video was not cut properly so it doesn't reflect the actual context of the game. Though many positive hopes have been dashed so far, take Far Cry 2 for instance.
